Cutting Board
Rinse your cutting board off in warm water to remove any lingering food debris. Use a mild dish soap and a sponge, gently clean the cutting board in warm, soapy water. For regular cleaning, use hot, soapy water and a brush or sponge. Avoid using abrasive scouring pads that might damage the board. Once you're finished cleaning your cutting board, make sure to dry it well. Damp boards can become breeding grounds for mold and bacteria. Pat it dry, then stand it upright to allow good air circulation while it dries out completely.
Never put your cutting board in the dishwasher. The high heat and prolonged exposure to the water can warp your board. It can also cause the wood fibers to break and glue joints to loosen. The dishwasher may also strip away the woods natural oils and any protective finish that it may have, causing it to be more suseptible to staining and bacterial growth.
You should season your board once a month with a food grade butter or oil to restore the moisture and shine to the wood. Simply use a clean cloth to rub on the product and wipe off any excess.
Make sure you store your board in a cool, dry place when you are not using it.
